The Strep Throat From Hades

Yes! I am still alive. I've had the strep throat from Hades for the last week and a half,I'm on Penicillin, lots of fluids and ice cream. I lost my voice, and ran a fever between 101-104 most of the time as well. So no writing, computer, just lying in bed listening to talk radio and reading a trilogy of books my friend RPJ got me hooked on. The "Aztec" series by Gary Jennings, which I hear may be turned into a mini series by either HBO or Shotime. Lots of sex, and lots of violence..... all it needs is some rock....

Here is a picture of the elevated roads the Aztecs used to enter the city of Tenochititlan. Think of it. While in the same time during the Middle Ages in Europe, people were dropping like flies from the Black Plague, the Aztecs were building these cities and causeways......I do love history.

How was your mental health during the strep throat? According to my nitric oxide theory of everything, it might have been better.

Daedulus, your comment isn't showing but yes, my mental health was better, maybe because I was tied up with my throat and sleeping 18 hours a day from the antibiotics.

Glad you are better

It showed for a little while, but it isn't now. I sent you a copy of my blog post on fever and autism. I now think that just about every mental health issue could get better during fever. It is complicated though.

Watch yourself for PANDAS, sometimes following a strep infection there are anti-strep antibodies that cause neuroinflammation and lead to movement disorder stuff. I think more NO can help that if it happens.

Susan, what a (crummy) coincidence...I have been sooo sick for the past week and a half with a throat infection (not strep, but pretty bad) too. My nose was stuffed so I couldn't breathe, and my throat was so swollen I could barely breathe through my mouth. Now I'm finally on antibiotics (the 1st doctor I went to didn't bother to do a proper exam and said I was fine and didn't need antibiotics!) but they have the unpleasant side effect of extreme diarrhea 1-3 times a day (sorry for the gross). I'm also *so* tired because my throat was hurting so much that I didn't sleep for 3-4 days straight.

Sorry to hear you have been sick too!

Littlewolf

I hope that you will feel better. Summer is a rough time to get sick. Take care.

I will have to check out the theory that daedalus2u writes of in these comments. I am nearly never ill, and cannot recall ever having been ill enough to have fever and my mental health has not historically had many significant reprieves. Strange things like this often interest me.

I hope you are feeling better, Susan. I wish you the very best of health.

I am so glad that you are on the mend.
My daughter used to be plagued by sinus infections and I don't remember her having a reprieve from her MI symptoms during them. I am curious what nitric oxide does to the body. Do you know?
