Good approach.
I found it very important they said that psychiatry is not of great help for self-injury.
They really don't know what to do and there are not meds.

Thank you so much Ana and Merelyme!

It's important to get this information out, I know it's very difficult to read.

Maybe we can stick together and save a life.

It’s Thursday February 21st 2008. It’s 3:30 am here. I’ve spent 3 hours reading and I’m not further than February 21st. I keep telling myself to fast forward a bit; that I don’t have to read every post, that you write even more than I do myself, but I can’t help it. Every time I glance at the beginning of one of your posts I get completely mesmerized. I can’t help it. I have to read the whole thing. Your writing is just so addictive.

-----------------------------------
Finally. It’s 4:15 in the morning. I read everything you wrote from start to finish. From the very first piece you wrote 9 months ago, through the hospitalization and up until now. It took me the entire night. Still I’m longing for more.

If you think I’m a good writer there are no words to describe the talent you have. Hang in there. Your writing is a true inspiration. Please don’t stop. I’ll check in every day.

Love from Norway

@G Wow. That is some compliment you are such a good writer too, but then so many of my favorite writers hail from your country....Funny how we both found each other blogs through the Churchill quote.

Thank you so much for adding me to your blog roll. I hope to update mine this weekend and will be of course adding your lovely blog to it.

Good information Susan... I just can't help wondering what SI **IS** (according to this source) as it's all about what it is NOT.

I have my own experiences with it and I would say that for me, self-harm is a way of punishing myself for being unable to cope like other people... That plus a call for attention going out to MYSELF. It's an attempt not to make others realise I'm in deep (psychological) pain, but to get my OWN attention and acknowledgment of it.

I'm gonna be a toastmaster in a wedding tomorrow, and as a tribute to this coincidence I'm gonna to put a Churchill quote in one of my little speeches. Just for fun

Hi Susan, I followed you over here. This is good. I'm planning to do an article on self-injury next. I am 8 months free from cutting, but not self-injury. Hooray, anyway. There are so many reasons that people do it and each person has their own set of reasons and rituals!

@Ana, I have found that the atypical antipsychotics help me, but it took forever to find one where the side effects didn't outweigh the benefits. My psychiatrist didn't give up.
