On Hurricane Irene

Thank you to my online friends who are worried about Holly (and her Human), with the more than likely hit of Hurricane Irene in this area.

As  I write this, the hurricane is due to hit, the sky is gray, and there is a soft wind blowing. Holly and I have our food for 5 days- bread, peanut butter, granola, lots of bottled water and 15 pounds of dry cat food. I have batteries in my radios, and flashlights, and I'm not worried. Holly on the other hand, is a scaredy cat and dislikes Thunder Boomers.

In a worse case scenario, where I live will be flooded out, and I will loose power in a best case scenario, it's going to be flooded out with power. Personally I think my friend Anthony has it right with his blog post about the hurricane, it may be much ado over nothing.

Below is a list of numbers for anyone in NJ who needs them. I also added a NOAA widget on the front of the blog.   Please please, keep your pets indoors.

Susan, hope all will be okay. If it is much ado about nothing, that is great! Hurricanes can be very nasty.

@Southern Belle, of course I worry about the critters! Even our Governor went on TV yesterday and said bring the dogs and cats with you if you have to evacuate! I know I will be ok, I just hope she doesn't over react to the wind and the thunder.

@Syd, thanks! I was wondering how you were faring, it looks like you will just miss it. I've been in hurricanes before, namely Floyd in 99, and Gloria in 85, but we have had so much rain this month the ground can't take too much more without huge flooding. That's what scares me. I may be flooded out and unable to leave my apartment til the water goes down.

I hope I have it right. Thor is being a pal today, sitting beside me and waiting for his food.

Cats and dogs are great comfort in these times.

As long as the power stays on, we'll be fine. Of course, the local TV heads are scaring us to death with forecasts and saying that we'll be without power for 3 days.

Hope you and Holly manage to stay dry and powered.

The poor animals! My dog and cat hate thunder storms, I can't imagine them with a hurricane rolling through. Take care!
