I'm In A Coney Island State of Mind

Very bad migraine from Cymbalta today. One tool I use when I am this sick is to think of a wonderful place and imagine myself there.

One of my most favorite memories from childhood was visiting my Grandmother in Brooklyn and going to Coney Island. Without further ado, I bring you my Coney Island State of Mind.
The pennycandystore beyond the El
is where I first
fell in love
with unreality
Jellybeans glowed in the semi-gloom
of that september afternoon
A cat upon the counter moved among
the licorice sticks
and tootsie rolls
and Oh Boy Gum

Outside the leaves were falling as they died

A wind had blown away the sun

A girl ran in
Her hair was rainy
Her breasts were breathless in the little room

Outside the leaves were falling
and they cried
Too soon! too soon!

  1. Are you just going on to Cymbalta, tapering off it, or have migraines been regular for you on it? I'm just starting the tapering process and a bit concerned about what symptoms others may have experienced that I may have to look forward to.

    Thank you,

  3. @Amy- I have been on Cymbalta since last April. I was going to start tapering, but came down with the flu and was advised not to do anything until I am better.

I am on 60 mg of Cymbalta and I find every now and then i get a real bad migraine from this drug. I get maybe 2 or 3 a month from this drug. Before Cymbalta I maybe got one or two migraines a year.

Good luck with your tapering. I will be blogging shortly on mine. Stay in touch.

@Dano. Thank you. We both like kitties, eh?

  4. Cats are amazingly therapeutic, in my opinion. Not to mention being Zen masters, most of them.

    Thanks for the info.
