The Cat in the hat on aging

Just for Friday. TGIF!

(Click on image to make it bigger)

Just in case you weren't feeling too old today:
The people who are starting college this fall were born in 1991.
They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.
Their lifetime has always included AIDS.
The CD was introduced two years before they were born.
They have always had an answering machine.
They have always had cable.
Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.
Popcorn has always been microwaved.
They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.
They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.
They never heard: 'Where's the Beef?', 'I'd walk a mile for a Camel ', or 'de plane Boss, de plane'.
McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.
They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

  5. @Stan, ummm no, but I do recall taking a course in Cobol back in college.....and the only dinosaur I remember at the time was an evil purple one!

@ Sally, I am sorry you are feeling old today......Can I do anything to make you feel younger?

@Ana, yes, true, but will we be around to read it?

  8. Scary thoughts, it still makes me wonder what it must be like for children to grow up surrounded by computers. At 45 I still remember the BBC computer and ZX81.
I've been away for a while, in a very dark place, but hopefully I'm coming out the other side - just numb and fragile now.
    All the best.

  11. I was born in '88--but I'll be a freshman at art school this fall (I'm going as a mature student--long story).

I was fourteen when my family got satellite TV--before then I didn't know about cable, satellite, etc.

And until I was five (when my father bought our first computer) I used an electric typewriter.

Go ahead and call me sheltered. ;-)
